The Business of Dance – Part 1

April 13, 2011

I want to share an audition opportunity for an upcoming television show, “The Business of Dance.”  Auditions are in Los Angeles this weekend, and you can find more details by contacting the organizers through their Facebook page.  The point of the show is for dancers to pitch their business ideas, with a grand prize of $250,000 as start-up funds towards making that dream a reality.

I learned about the show directly from one of the producers this morning, and I have to say, I think it is a fantastic concept!  After all, dancers often have dreams of running their own businesses (or may already be doing so).  Dance is not just about being up on stage or teaching – it can be and is so much more!  I’m not sure yet if I can personally attend due to my scholarship constraints, but as someone who is currently working on two dance start-up businesses, what an amazing opportunity this presents.   I have more thoughts on business and dance as well, but in the interest of time will wait for a later post to explore those musings.
